To obey Jesus together, we must learn exactly what he says, learn to spend time with him, learn to interpret what he says more effectively, and learn to understand our culture and how we fit into it.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The scriptures are poetically referred to as "a lamp for my feet, a light on my path" (Psalm 199:105). We must learn for ourselves what the scriptures actually say in order to most effectively understand what God says.
