What is Rooted?

Rooted is a 10-week small-group discipleship experience where participants discover more about God, the Church, and their purpose by exploring the Bible, engaging in unique experiences, sharing stories, and practicing the rhythms of a life with Jesus.

Why Rooted?

Simply put, Rooted allows participants to more effectively pursue the goal of all of our Venture Groups: obeying Jesus together.

This holistic discipleship experience simultaneously raises the temperature of participants' individual spiritual rhythms, on each group's spiritual rhythms, and on the church's overall spiritual rhythms.

Obeying

To love God is to obey God.

Rooted is not simply about learning more about God- it's about learning how to obey him in everyday life. Spending time with God daily, learning how to engage your purpose, and grappling with a challenging yet rewarding life of obedience is what Rooted is all about.

Jesus

To love God is to know and follow Jesus.

Rooted introduces Jesus and expounds on different ways to learn about him, engage with him, and obey him. Finishing a task list is easy; following a person is not. Jesus is at the center of the Rooted experience in every way.

Together

To love God is to love one another.

Just as God designed people to live life in community, the Rooted experience is only designed to be done in community. We must fulfill God's instruction to love one another by learning how to be together through the highs and lows of life.

Personal Rhythms

Rooted strengthens your personal rhythms.

Rooted specifically challenges participants to grow in several personal rhythms of faith, including daily engagement with God, scripture reading, scripture memorization, prayer, generosity, repentance, sharing stories, serving, fasting, and worship.

Group Rhythms

Rooted strengthens your group's rhythms.

Rooted also encourages growth in group rhythms, including discussion participation, vulnerability, prayer for and with other group members, serving together, accountability, flexibility, celebration of milestones, and encouragement.

Church Rhythms

Rooted strengthens our church rhythms.

Finally, participation in Rooted grows the spiritual rhythms of our church, including areas such as evangelism, generosity, serving in the church and in the community, and creating an overall culture of openness, care, worship, learning, and prayer.
